Step and skip
A step goes from a line to the next space, or from a space to the next line: the smallest move on the staff. A skip jumps over one: line to the next line, or space to the next space.
Steps and skips are the shapes you will read most. Later, every note is read as a step or a skip from a nearby landmark, so this has to be instant.
Two notes appear. Say whether the second is a step or a skip away; up or down does not matter.
Drill
The session goes on until every skill below is mastered: at least 10 answers, at most 40. Your progress carries over between sessions.
Master the previous lesson first: Higher and lower
