Lessons ยท Unit 11: Rhythm III
Sixteenth notes
A sixteenth note lasts a quarter of a beat: four fit in one quarter note. They are written with two flags or a double beam. To count them, split the beat in four: "1 e and a, 2 e and a".
They rarely come alone. The two combinations you will meet most mix one eighth with two sixteenths: the eighth first ("1 and a") or last ("1 e and").
From here the window tightens to 80 milliseconds: with figures this short, "nearly" is not good enough. Start slow and do not rush inside the group.
Drill
The session goes on until every skill below is mastered: at least 10 answers, at most 40. Your progress carries over between sessions.
