Lessons ยท Unit 2: Treble landmarks

G4 and C5

The treble clef is also called the G clef: its curl wraps around the second line, and the note on that line is G4. Every time you see the clef, you already know one note.

G4: the clef's line

C5 sits in the third space, right in the middle of the staff. G4 and C5 split the staff into halves you can see at a glance.

C5: the middle space

Name each note as fast as you can. There is no counting from the bottom here: you either see it, or you look at where it sits relative to G4 and C5.
