Lessons ยท Unit 3: Treble steps
Reading at tempo
Until now you had all the time in the world for each note. Real reading does not work that way: the music moves on, and the note has to be read by the time it goes past. This drill puts a slow metronome underneath and asks for each note exactly as it sounds.
You will hear one bar of count-in, four clicks. The first note starts on the fifth click. A name given late counts as a miss even when it is the right name: speed is part of reading.
One tip: look at the next note while you say the current one. The eye always runs ahead of the voice.
Drill
The session goes on until every skill below is mastered: at least 10 answers, at most 40. Your progress carries over between sessions.
