Dotted quarter and eighth
A dotted quarter lasts 1 + ½ = a beat and a half. It is nearly always followed by an eighth, which falls on the "and" of the second beat: "1 (2) and". Together they make two beats.
Tap the eighth late and light: just before the next beat.
