Lessons ยท Unit 6: Rhythm II

2/4 time by ear

In 2/4 there are two beats per bar: a march. With eighths, a bar can hold up to four sounds. Here two bars are played and you pick the right notation.

Two bars of 2/4

A melody may begin before the first full bar, with an anacrusis (a pickup): one or two loose beats counted as the end of a bar. The first bar is drawn incomplete, and the metronome marks beat 1 on the first note of the bar after it.
